Volunteer Opportunities

CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Summer Packer

Would you like to empower beginning farmers in Skagit Valley? Or maybe you want to help yourself and others have access to local, farm fresh produce? Come volunteer for our CSA Program, providing Viva Farms produce to our community, including SNAP beneficiaries.

Viva Farms sells our beginning farmers’ produce through our weekly CSA. CSA stands for community supported agriculture, a model that connects consumers and producers in the food system by allowing the consumer to subscribe to the harvest of a certain farm or farmer. This year we are launching a SNAP CSA program, where SNAP recipients can use their benefits to purchase Viva Farms CSA shares. Not only will our program enable SNAP beneficiaries to have access to local produce but will also provide them with the tools to vote with their dollars like all other consumers.

We are looking for dedicated CSA volunteers who will assist with packing our 100+ CSA boxes each Wednesday 7am – 12pm, from June 13th – September 12th, 2018. All packing will be done at Viva Farms: located at the corner of Airport Higgins Way & Ovenell Road off Hwy 20.

Must commit to 10 weeks in advance to receive your small weekly CSA share. Open to all applicants who can lift 50 lbs. and stand for 5 hours. Must be 16 or older. Required training Wednesday  June 6th, 9am – 11am

Saturdays on the Farm

If you are looking to get your hands dirty and help out around the farm with some hardworking folks, join us on the first Saturday of the month from June – September. Tasks will vary depending on the needs of the farm. All skill levels welcome. Children under 16 need to have supervision.

June 2nd, July 7th, August 4th, and September 1st from 10am – 3pm.

We will provide the tools, gloves, and snacks. You bring the community and hard work!

Please wear closed toed shoes and dress for the weather & work.

Feast & Frolic Event Volunteers

Our annual farm-to-table event is a big production and requires a lot of hands on deck to pull off smoothly! We have many different tasks that evening including set-up, bussing, parking attendants, beer pourers, clean up, ticket sales, and more. This is a great way to attend the event in exchange for your work. Dinner is included with each shift.

We will have multiple shifts that evening starting anywhere from 2:30pm to 6:00pm and ending throughout the evening.

Grant Writing Team

We are looking for competent and motivated individuals with a focused mind to help us research for additional grant funding and write grant proposals. With additional funding, we will have the ability to expand our infrastructure, develop our staffed team, and increase our community outreach so that we can teach, train, and grow the sustainable farmers of tomorrow.

Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at our farm. No grant writing experience necessary but demonstrated technical writing skills required. Internship and Volunteer Position Available.

Give back and help us grow!
