Housing: We are not able to
provide housing for any of the positions listed below. However, we can help
with finding housing in any of the nearby towns. Many team members commute
daily from Bellingham.
Viva Farm Stand Cashier and Produce Assistant
Seeking 2-3 solid and outstanding individuals to help run our Hwy 20 farm stand
and produce operations! Seasonal (typically May-Nov). Reports to the
produce manager and is responsible for providing excellent customer
service while assisting customers in person . Also includes produce
stocking and management. This is an outdoor position (open air market);
applicant must enjoy working outdoors. Depending on the skills of the
candidate, other duties may include packing orders in the warehouse,
driving a delivery van, farm labor and some office admin. Please provide
some information on your other skills, driving history and comfort
level driving a delivery van on an urban Seattle route. What we're
looking for in a candidate: Ideally experience with produce management,
stocking or otherwise.
Customer service, cashiering or other transferable skills like
restaurant serving. Or an outgoing attitude, strong dedication to our
mission and desire to learn the produce industry.

No farming experience needed! Interns participate in a full weekly schedule of hands-on, practical farm training, along side our seasoned farm crew. This is a great way to learn about organic farming, marketing, Community Supported Agriculture and to gain practical experience. Interns will participate in the new WSU Skagit FIELD program, which helps provide an educational framework for the internship. Interns can also take the Cultivating Success classes starting in September. Volunteer
Spend a day
with your hands in the dirt! We have many volunteer opportunities available at
Viva Farms and at the Garden of Hope, a food bank farm operated by Neighbors in
Need food bank. A limited number of CSA work trade memberships are available
for dedicated, season long volunteers. If you are interested in
volunteering please complete our online form!
CSA Packers & Drivers

This hybrid position will help pack our CSA and drive a delivery van in a complex urban King County route (begin and end in Skagit). On non-delivery/pack days days, some packers and drivers work as a cashier or produce helpers at the farm stand or jump in with the field crew. Hours depend on the need of the season, but most likely 20-30 hours per week.

Extroverted local food lovers: this job is for you. Help at more than a dozen farmers markets in the Seattle area. During peak season we sell at farmers markets 5 days a week – Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun. Farmers Market Helpers meet our trucks(s) at market and help us sell high quality, fresh, 100% chemical free fruits, vegetables, greens, nuts, grains, herbs, flowers, meats, and value-added items. We anticipate hiring between six to eight Farmer Market Helpers. Positions can be part time or full time, with the majority of the hours taking place June-December. Mid-week markets shifts are between 3-8 p.m.; weekend market shifts are generally between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. We also have opportunities at our Pike Place stand, with shifts Wed-Sun, 7:30 a.m – 6:00 p.m. Successful applicants will have friendly demeanor, vibrant energy, and be knowledgeable about food and sales.

be hosting three AmeriCorps positions starting September 16th
, 2012
and running through July, 2013. The positions start soon so please send

motivated and
passionate individuals to fill the following positions: Production
Fellow, Post-Harvest Fellow and Community Outreach and Engagement Fellow
(which includes helping manage GrowFood.org). These positions are 10.5

AmeriCorps GrowFood.org Web Developer Fellow

The
GrowFood.org Web Developer Fellowship starts September 16th , 2012 and
runs through July, 2013. The Fellow will help organization directors
manage the GrowFood.org website and use social media and other tools to
engage with the greater community. Projects will include managing
development work on GrowFood.org, collecting user experience data,
refining user experience, general promotion and search engine
optimization. If the Fellow has programming experience, the projects
will include development. Otherwise, the Fellow will help manage
contract developers using Drupal, PHP and CiviCRM. The Fellow will also
be able to spend time outside at Viva Farms.
